Yesterday, while blindly trolling the internet, a little something/something caught my eye.  A little something called “Blogger Idol”  Since I was at work at the time, I could only briefly look over the contest  and attempt to file it into the bottomless pit that is my mind, for possible future reference.

Fast forward to later that night… I noticed a few blogs that I follow were posting that they had auditioned for the Blogger Idol contest.  The simple  fact that I saw these familiar people participating was enough to make me take a second look. Shit, this might actually be fun.

Basically, from Sep 3 – Sep 17 all bloggers can enter the competition by applying over at the Blogger Idol home page.  12 finalists will be announced on Sep 20… this will be followed by 10 weeks of assignments/elimination and some voting… and then BOOM!  The next Blogger Idol!

Prizes?  There are prizes galore, if make the top 6 spots.

One of the grand prizes is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition…. that thing is pretty bad ass!

There’s a bunch of other cool stuff too, but I’ll let you go check that out for yourself.

Is it difficult/scary/humiliating to audition?  Heck to the no!  It’s merely doing what we do best… writing.  Want to see how simple it is???  I’ll even let you take a peek at part of my application….

I considered beginning this introduction with a friendly “hello” however I quickly realized that this brief formality would eat into my 250-500 word allowance, so I opted not to do so.  I hope you can understand my dilemma.  Anyways, on to the good stuff… My name is Kim and I am a wife to my Hubs and the mother to 3 boys. We also have a dog that I affectionately refer to as The Beast. The Beast, within this last year, has managed to draw blood from 2/3rds of my children and was successful in the breaking of my Mother’s arm. Despite the incessant carnage, we still love him. When I am not fending off The Beast’s next attack, I am usually spending way more hours than I’d like to at our local Marine Base, punching at calculators and mastering the art of cradling my desk phone, on its receiver to make it look as though it’s actually hung up.  The send me a paycheck every 2 weeks and most of the time it’s somewhat of a good trade.
I believe I would be a good candidate for Blogger Idol 2012 because… well, I’m kind of cool… and I’m the best sort of “kind of cool” there is, in that I never even knew that I was “kind of cool” to begin with. I just started innocently writing the strange thoughts that had been flitting throughout my brain and people responded. I’ve received laughter, virtual high fives and even a foreign marriage proposal, on my Facebook page.  These are exciting times and I’m not ready for them to end.  I’m aware that my readership my seem a bit smaller than some of the other contestants, but I have to say… my readers are the best.  If any one of them saw me struggling with a vending machine, that happened to be holding my newly purchased bag of chips hostage, by the edge of its little spirally spiral… they would totally assist me in rocking, kicking and cussing at the evil machine.  It’s quality, not quantity… and I’ve got some of the best.
So, to sum it all up… and also because I still have some spare words that I can  still use… I believe that I could be the next Blogger Idol because writing makes me smile. From the jolt of unfiltered excitement that travels down your spin whenever a new idea floods into your brain, to that rush of nervous adrenaline pulsing though your veins as you finally push that publish button. It’s addictive…. and I want more.

So if you think you have what it takes… give it a try.  The more the merrier!
